Hey ... We're Back!

Royal ~ Love of My Life

Three years since I last posted!  Wow, that was one long trail ride.

Much has happened since I last told you what was going on around the farm.  We've added some, which was a very happy thing. And we've lost some, which has broken our hearts.

For awhile it was a bit of a bumpy ride. But now, life is great, again, with all our critters. Everyone is doing wonderfully, being good and doing everything right ... well, most of the time, sorta.

I'll gradually bring you all up to date about our cast of characters.

There was Little Joey, the starving horse we rescued.  What a sweetheart ... and what a story!

Then there's the Golden Retrievers with their regular dunks in the Pacific Ocean, to mention only one of their many adventures.

And I don't want to miss mentioning Mouse-Trap, the Maine Coon cat who could write his own book ... or Lucy, the chicken that thinks she is a lap sitter.  Well, actually, she is.

And, of course, there was the 'touch and go' situation with Royal. He has recovered from founder and is our miracle boy. I'm overjoyed to say that he is doing fantastic.  He's such a love ... but you already know about that.

I have missed all of you.  However, I've been sleuthing my way through your blogs off and on.  That has always been enjoyable!

I must say ...... it is so nice to be back!

By the way ... did you know Lucy could read?

Would you turn the page, please?

Lucy much prefers history books. Certaily not historical novels, but books that are well documented and filled with ... foot notes. (mostly hers)

One of these days, Lucy could very well become a book, herself.

She grew up with Kayla and quite fancies herself to be a dog. It is rather ordinary to see her following the dog through the barn, into the horse corrals, up the hill and into the gardens.

When everyone has gone in the house she struts from one door to the other. Eventually, she settles down to just being a dedicated ... window peek-er.

Probably her greatest pleasure is being carried around the yard, next to reading history books, that is.

She's somethin'. There's even more about Lucy ... here.

And then there is ... Lucy!

Lucy is in charge of ... everything. She darts around most of the day checking to be sure things are in proper order in the garden, the barn, the yard ... simply put, just about everything. She seems to be well liked or perhaps it is ... respected.

Lucy is also the official babysitter, guardian, companion of the dog. She loves the dog and makes claim to Daisy at every opportunity.
I've never quite understood what makes these bonded relationships. But this is one lasting friendship, for sure.
