Sunday Stills - Black & White Photography

The Challenge of the Week is Black and White
using two subjects from past Challenges.
Subject One
Animal Husbandry

How great is this ...
Royal is black and white!

He is the love of my life ...

... a big boy, but so very polite.

... his kindness shows
in the softness of his eye.

Always with us, he is such
a wonderful part of our lives.

Subject Two
Religious Architecture

Mission San Juan Capistrano

Believed to be the oldest church
still standing in California,
Mission San Juan Capistrano was
founded
more than two hundred years ago

It is the 7th of 21 missions statewide.

Known as the “Jewel of the Missions"
it is also home to the Swallows
that return to nest
in March of every year.

Located in Southern California very near the Pacific Ocean,
Mission San Juan Capistrano is a place of beauty and tranquillity,

and a wonderful place for
a camera!

Be sure to check out Sunday Stills
for other black and white challenge photos
posted by my camera friends.

  2. Beautiful photos! I love the one of Royal's eye and the other of him hanging with your husband... those are excellent!

The mission is just gorgeous. My mom is actually doing a water color painting of one of the photos you took (well, one of the angles of the arches) -- she's been working on it for a few years now and I hope to inherit it. ;)

    Happy mother's day!

  3. Thank you for stopping by my blog! I am sure happy you did because it lead me here and I just LOVE your photos. My favorite horsey one is of the man, dog and horse... I love that it seems like it has a story.

The photos of the mission, especially the one with the pillars on the left...it seems to stretch on forever.

  21. Beautiful shots!
    Is Royal part/all draft horse?

I'd really love to visit San Juan Capistrano when the swallows return. I get all excited when my chimney swifts return year after year.

  32. Wow! Somehow I missed these on Sunday. I love the photo of boy's eye. You are right, the kindness of his spirit shines through. Also love the Mission - brings back memories of doing missions in 4th grade, decades ago. Funny thing is, kids still do missions in 4th grade.

  34. I just got a new camera -- you inspire me. Wish I knew how to use it.

Beautiful photos. Royal is just right in black and white. His eye photo is beautiful.

Haven't tried black and white. Will put that on my list of camera experiments to do.
