Sunday Stills ~ Barns

Having lived in Wisconsin for five wonderful years,  driving into the countryside to photograph old barns became my passion.

It was delightful to visit, once again.

Walking around these old buildings, my mind searched for the details of these shelters of countless animals of the years past.

Each barn has its story.  Who built it, where did the people come from, what were their lives like ... if only we knew.

Be sure to visit Sunday Stills for inspiring photographs.

  1. Isn't it strange how the American settlers/farmers stuck to timber as their primary building material, yet they came from Europe where nearly everything was built of stone?
I love the variety in these shots, I think the last one is my favourite, it's very "Little House on the Prairie"

    1. Hi Martine,
Interesting thought you have. I suppose they built with what was most readily available.

  3. Wonderful pictures. It does make you think about who built them and what their lives were like. If only the barns could talk they would reveal some history of the past.

    1. I feel the same way. Love the old barns, but wish they came with a history book attached.

    1. You're right. The roof on the last one would be one "hang on" job to do!

  5. Lovely shots. I really like the first one, half hidden by the yellowing leaves.
