Mission San Juan Capistrano

Only a short drive from Royal's barn is this beautiful landmark.
It is a favorite place to absorb the tranquility and history of this place.

San Juan Capistrano Mission was founded
over two hundred years ago.

It is known as the
"Jewel of the Missions"

Located in Southern California very near the Pacific Ocean,
it is b
elieved to be the oldest church
still standing in California.

There are 21 Missions in California statewide.
San Juan Capistrano was the 7th Mission to have been established.

Mission San Juan Capistrano
is a favorite place to visit for photography
or just to sit and gather many peaceful thoughts.

    1. Hi Ed,
About the swallows ... they still have the annual parade, but the Swallows are now coming to our house, instead. Apparently when they restored the Mission, it disturbed the Swallows. They are working on that problem. Hummm ... think I'll post on that subject. Thanks for the idea.

  7. I've been there! When I was living in Santa Monica, 1983/1984, my wonderful aunt took me & the LSH there... I remember her singing "When the swallows return to Capistrano..."
Thanks for the memory, she's gone three years now and all her nieces & nephews still miss her, she was a nun but the feistiest, most un-nunlike lady you'd ever meet!
