Christmas Boat Parade ~ Dana Point, Ca.

A few days ago, we were off to the Dana Point Harbor
for the annual Christmas Boat Parade.
We were bundled up in sweaters, parkas,
wool scarves and boots for great fun!
The breeze off the water was ... cold !

This is the event where boat owners
decorate their boats for the Christmas holidays
and parade around the harbor.
Palm trees on boats seems to always be popular.

The boats are mostly decorated
by the boat owners and their families.

A few hire professionals to do the job.

Pretty much ... anything goes.
Each boat has music that matches the decorations.
This boat treated us with Hawaiian songs.

Dana Point is a beautiful harbor
only a few miles from our home.

We sat on the back of our boat enjoying hot drinks
with our friends and cheering each boat that went by.

Click below to see the great Christmas
fun that we all had while watching the decorated boats
and enjoying the Christmas celebration.

Dana Point Christmas Parade

  1. Wow, how interesting. It sounds like fun despite the cold.

  2. Boat parades are an expected part of the Holiday Season here in Florida!

Thanks for stopping by to visit a couple of days ago...I look forward to your next visit!

  3. Wow that must be so cool to see first hand. Great shots, I love the palm trees!!!

Sounds like you had an enjoyable evening.

On the subject of Royal and a blanket, they will adapt to their environment so just keep an eye on him for a bit if you have been blanketing him. I know what you mean about them prefering to be outside. On more than one occasion I have seen a huge storm approaching, 40 mph winds, blinding rain, thunder and lightening and have been running around trying to get out to fetch the horses in only to find that they are calmly down the far end of the field grazing happily!!!!

  4. A good insurance man looks at the cars parked in front of his house and calculates how much the insurance costs. I can imagine the insurance cost on these boats is monumental. They sure do a nice job in decorating them for the holiday season.

  5. I've seen this boat parade featured on television and always thought it would be such fun to see it in person. I'm so glad you shared it with us! Cindy at Rosehaven Cottage

  6. We were able to see many boat parades while living on the coasts...they are such fun! I enjoyed all the pictures and could just imagine being there...
